The filtration unit CEPHIR is designed to meet the requirements associated with product-dust filtration and collection in modern pharmaceutical solid dosage manufacturing facilities.

The CEPHIR unit is in a modular design available. A future extension is possible. The ‚Master’ module contains the whole control equipment and operation handling up to 20 modules. The ‚Slave’ modules have to be added according to the air consumption.

Planned to be installed directly in the production room the modules are designed in CrNiSteel coming up to a GMP design. Operation access from the front allows installing the unit in small production rooms.

The operation via touch panel for different process steps, the password protection, the data recording and the possibility to realize an exchange of signals via the Ethernet connection assure a control Part 11 design.

The filtration unit is a self cleaning double stage HEPA filtration. The filter cassette quality is H13 in stage 1 and H14 in stage 2. The load of the filter surface is minimized with a installation of a real cyclone. With this cyclone a pre-separation of nearly 90% of the dust is possible. This lightens the change of filter cassettes. Further the filter cassette contact pressure provides a hermetically sealed system during power failure. 

The filter cassettes will be exchanged according to the well known Bag-in-Bag-out method. Special options are available like the filter cassette sealing check or the filter cassette quality check with external particle measurements via DOP’s.  A special cassette desk directly connected at the unit makes an exchange of the filter cassette easy.

The dust bags and the filter cassette bags will be closed by a special but simple clip technology. With welding tongs heat sealed plastic bags are available.

A High Containment version is realized by using an isolator. A vacuum pressure control assures the dust discharge. The dust bag can be removed according to the Bag-in-Bag-out method, with or without endless liner. But also a RTP version is available as an option. A WiP version is also available with connection for CIP liquids, valves for distribution, piping, spray nozzles and drainage valve. To avoid more risks during the dust discharge a dust transfer pipe can be installed to have only one discharge for a lot of modules. The High Containment options are leading to lowest OEL level (< 0.1 μm).

Explosion protection will be reached with a minimized critical dust laden air volume. This allows  production under High Containment conditions with ST2 dust without using other protection arrangements.
